Tourist Spots in Northern Mindanao

Mindanao is the second largest and southernmost major island in the Philippines. It is also the name of one of the three island groups in the country, consisting of the island of Mindanao and smaller outlying islands.Mindanao – a land of promise, and a land where different colors scream unity in diversity. Most of the Northerners fear Mindanao. Terrorist attacks, bomb scares, and other inhumane acts are everyday occurrences in this island, they say. Truth is, we live harmoniously and peacefully, and those turmoil’s only occur sporadically, just like any other places in the world. Apparently, the sensationalized news of some mainstream media groups had deeply concealed the beauty of Mindanao. In this day and age, social media had made Mindanao more visible not just to the whole country, but to the whole world as well. Thankfully, some Northerners proved to their fellowmen that there is so much to see in our island.


Tubajon is one of the barangay of Laguindingan, this barangay is known in beautiful beaches where many mangrove trees cited, the sand like Boracay sand and good spot for snorkeling or scuba diving with amazing coral reef, different kind of fish and whale shark also known as Botanding.


The Divine Mercy Shrine is a Catholic monument in El Salvador, Misamis Oriental, and Philippines. It features a 15.24 metre statue of Jesus as the Divine Mercy as the focal point of the Divine Mercy Hills, a tract of land overlooking Macajalar Bay on the large southern island of Mindanao


Whitewater rafting is a very popular activity for those visiting Cagayan de Oro. It was actually a visit of then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Tourism Secretary Richard Gordon several years back which created a lot of buzz for Cagayan de Oro’s top adventure activity. Tinago Falls is a waterfall in Iligan City, Lanaodel Norte in the southern Philippine island of Mindanao.It is one of the main tourist attractions in Iligan, a city known as the City of Majestic Waterfalls. CAMIGUIN is a small pear-shaped volcanic island with a total land area of 238 sq. kilometers in the north west coast of Mindanao. Maria Cristina Falls is a waterfall of the Agus River on the island of Mindanao. It is sometimes called the “twin falls” as the flow is separated by a rock at the brink of the waterfall.It is a landmark of Iligan City, nicknamed the City of Majestic Waterfalls, because of the presence of more than 20 waterfalls in the city.Well known for its natural beauty and grandeur, the 320 – feet (98 meters) high waterfall is also the primary source of electric power for the city’s industries, being harnessed by the Agus VI Hydroelectric Plant.


There are two main golf course available near the Lohas Airport Hotel. First is the Pueblo Golf Course which is located in Pueblo, Masterson Avenue, Cagayan de Oro City. It offers the allure of Southern living while surrounded by vast green fairways of the Pueblo Golf course.

The other one is the Del Monte Golf Course which is located in Cawayanon, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon. It has great ambiance with a cold climate since it is surrounded with pine trees.
